Mechanical services at CCS relies on the principle that every operation needed to produce the final output should be of superior value; a process with considerations which extend across the Whole-of-Life elements of the HVAC system including system alternatives, initial concept, design, installation, testing, commissioning, operation, maintenance, decommissioning and eventual disposal. It is a theory whereby a high quality project can be described by such terms as ease in understanding building information models and conflicts within drawings and specifications, economics of construction, ease of operation, ease of maintenance, good indoor air quality (IAQ), energy efficiency, occupancy comfort and process function, and system resilience. It is a concept used throughout our business that also extends to customers and suppliers. It aims to improve the standard and level of inputs, outputs, innovations and efficiencies of products, processes and services associated with the full scope of our work.
Our commitment to quality is achieved through maintaining this whole-of-life perspective; exceeding compliance with statutory requirements, codes, standards and guidelines; seeking accreditation and industry involvement; setting up quality management protocols, and a system with the aim of eliminating defective work; and clearly defining roles and responsibilities for managing quality. Project strategies and objectives include a commitment:
-
To ensure, before handover, that we tackle construction defects to minimise any disruption to the clients’ use of the facility and minimise financial exposure – this also extends to reducing the occurrence and costs of error and waste and to achieve continuous improvement in the quality of the product and service provided.
-
To implement works in accordance with client’s needs in respect to service and quality in accordance with the contract provisions, whereby CCS systematically plan and manage our work to achieve specified quality outcomes and measurable objectives. Ensuring documentation (including that of Consultants, Subcontractors, and Suppliers of equipment and plant) is clear, concise and is adequately controlled by the processes of approval, review, revision, status control, and access; we employ an integrated system to control drawings and documentation; tracking contributors, revisions and obsolescence, distribution, approvals, and access. We are resolute submitting documentation required by the Contract by the time(s) specified in the Contract and presenting our work in clear terms.
-
To systematically manage processes in accordance with the plans, standards and codes specified in contracts and specifications. CCS undertake periodic audits of quality control processes and establish, maintain and keep records of all activities related to the management of quality requirements;
We make certain that verifications are undertaken as set out in the Inspection and Test Plan. They are conducted throughout operation: before equipment purchasing, upon reception or fabrication of equipment, before installation, during installation, after installation, and in commissioning; identifying the items of materials and work to be inspected or tested, by whom and at what stage or frequency, as well as Monitoring and Hold and Witness Points, references to relevant standards, acceptance criteria and the records to be maintained.
We identify proactively and control non-conforming services and/or products, we ensure they are logged and documented, initiate learning, and undertake corrective and preventative action;
We encourage and participate in the recognition of risks related to quality, time, cost, environment, health and safety priorities.
-
To provide ongoing education and training to all of our employees, distributing quality assurance information to all employees and interested parties, and consulting with employees and stakeholders to improve decision-making on quality matters.
Clearly defining roles and responsibilities in relation to quality control, ensuring all professionals know their trade and practice it responsibly, we expect CCS workers to maintain regular attendance at on-site meetings, toolbox talks and prestarts to ensure quality related issues are raised for review and all staff on site are aware of the procedures; in this, to be leading by example, as team, and promoting sound quality practices at every opportunity.
Our quality management system is integrated with environmental, health and safety management systems to promote consistent processes and standards which establish formal lines of communication and consolation to promote ownership and accountability for identifying and implementing improvements.
-
Providing enough resources to maintain quality management as a central part of the organisation.
