Train, study and earn an income

CCS Group seek reliable, self-motivated team players who want to gain skills in the trades. We are always looking for new talent, and open annual application rounds to join our apprenticeship team.

We provide career development pathways in:

• HVAC&R
• Plumbing
• Electrical
• Sheet metal work
• Built-enviroment services management and administration

We see great value in the opportunity to share skills, and appreciate new perspectives that apprentices bring. We offer a great team environment, and the opportunity to work with various mentors on a variety of different sites with multiple skills.

At any one time, CCS has multiple apprentices in training, and has done so since the very beginning. Some have risen to become managers and continue to inspire the junior tradesmen and technicians. We believe everyone has had to be the learner at some point in their life, and deserve respect at this important time in their career development.

How much will I get paid?

Australian apprentices are employed under a state award or agreement. For more information on award wages for apprentices click here. The amount paid varies depending on which year of training you are in. The more you train the more you earn. At CCS, there are other benefits included, for example in your third year you may get a work car. If you are on call in your fourth year, you will get a phone allowance. You are supplied with a full uniform, including boots and safety gear. You get trained by an experienced technician, as well as various other training courses on offer through the CCS Training Program.

How long will it take for me to complete the apprenticeship?

A trade apprenticeship takes four years to complete. Four days of the week are spent on the tools, being mentored by a fully qualified CCS technician, with one day in the classroom at CIT. At any one time there are various levels of apprentice in the apprentice team with 4th years working alongside 1st years. All students need to do the required health & safety training, and pass all their units to become fully qualified.
CCS works closely with the CIT to support the students. For more information on CIT courses click here.

Who should apply?

CCS is looking for school leavers between the age of 15 and 19 yrs, male or female, willing to live and study in Canberra. CCS offers a job for life to our successful apprentices. As a growing business with 5 business divisions ranging from engineering to a sheet metal factory, there are plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.

We are looking for smart, switched on students who are problem solvers, high achievers in something, like working with others and getting out and about. You can do maths, think for yourself and have a knack for working with tools. You may be financially ambitious and want to earn while you learn and get on with your career.

What training will I get?

It’s really up to you to make the most of the opportunities CCS has on offer. For apprentices there is a comprehensive training program that works alongside the CIT curriculum, some of which is compulsory (for example, safety training) and some voluntary.
